“It’s time for our Breakthrough” - LekkiHood's Finest

L-R: Zen, Rule Kings & Izzy Millie - LEKKIHOOD's FINEST

Lekkihood Finest is a Hip-hop Rap group with a versatile mind towards different genres in the music industry. The name arose from the lifestyle in Lekki "Lekkihood" because we always try to be consistent with the way we dress, the way we speak & the natural way we live our lives. Lekkihood stands for what we believe we’ll achieve…to show that there are also talented people in Lekki and the Lekki lifestyle. We want to show that we can do something different from what others are doing.

Lekkihood Finest came to be in 2010; the group consists of Zen – Lo, I–Millie and Rule Kings. “Like every other music group, we have experienced our tough times and hard decisions but we are thankful to be able to deliver our fans great music with every track they hear. We’ve got so much to say, no time to play, back to the studio doing what we do best. Music is what makes us happy so we do our best trying to do good music, often even get criticized for our music on twitter and facebook, but the plain truth is if you are not someone no one would talk about you. So that motivates us to do more and give our all to whatever we do.”

Every artist must have an inspiration and LHF is not left out as they pronounce that theirs are Eminem, Royce Da 5’9’ and Tupac Shakur.

If it's Hip-Hop, Rap, Party or just your normal African beat, Lekkihood Finest has major styles for all genres of music. This Lagos based group released their debut single "We Breaking Out" which featured 2010 Channel O Dancehall Winner ‘General Pype’ & The Headies nominated legendary Rap lyricist ‘Vector’. This track has been giving thumbs up by DJ's across Lagos. “Everyone is searching for a breakthrough, that’s was the concept of the song.” Their second official single is titled “Check one 2” which featured Ade Piper, a very talented and fast rising artist.

Everyone has a celeb crush and these three guys are not left out. When asked about who they had a crush on, Zen picked Waje, I-Millie went for Rihanna and Rule Kings chose Muna.

Speaking on the Nigerian music industry… “We have got a lot of fake artists in this industry, which ain't good at all. We won’t mention names but they don’t give upcoming artists their due respect in fact they shatter some dreams, which is not fair enough”.

Furthermore, they explained that it hasn’t been easy for them. “We are three rappers in a group which is rare, you only see a rapper or two and singers but we are unique. And I bet you this is a legacy we would leave in this industry.”

We are currently working on dropping another single, a techno kind-of song. And our album isn’t going to be released anytime soon because we still have to do a lot of promotion for our singles. We are going to do a lot of collaborations with both upcoming artistes and made ones. We’ve done collaboration already with Vector and General Pype on the track ‘Breakthrough’ and Ade Piper on the track ‘Check one 2’.

LHF gave a word of advice to both the fans and haters. “Follow your dreams. Don’t let anyone bring you down. And to the haters; keep hating because we don’t care about what you guys tweet about us.”
