L-R: Mizzle, Sexy Jay & Brief Cabana
Kryptic Kidz is group of three 17 year old boys, ‘Brief Cabana’ also known as Akinsulie Kehinde, Kolajo John Adefiola stage name Sexy Jay and Anifowoshe Micheal Temitayo as Mizzle. They formed the group while they were in Kings College and the name Kryptic was coined from the cartoon Superman and Kryptonite is his weakness, which implies they are here to weaken all the ‘Supermen’ in the game. “We do Afro hip hop music. Right from our junior secondary days we discovered that we each loved music with passion and so we decided to give it a try, and ever since that’s what we have been doing”.
The group consists of two rappers and one singer, their style of music is ‘Jambo Music’ which means Happy Music. And they’ve just recently released a new track titled ‘High School Girl’. “The track just talks about how relationships go down in High school. Our parents support our music as far as we come back home with good grades and focus also on our education.”
Their inspiration is drawn from a whole lot of things, from the various songs they grew up listening to, from friends, family and world as a whole. “Music is all about passing a message across to the audience, and artistes like Styl-Plus do that and they grow stronger in bond by the day. 50 Cent, M.I, 2 Face Idibia, Wiz Kid, Jason Derulo and Wande Coal are also other acts we look up to.”
Kryptic Kidz are currently signed under Rosey Records and being managed by Captain YKJ. Their first masterpiece MWAK which stands for My Ways Are Kryptic which would be an EP will be dropped sometime later this year.
Speaking on the Music industry they elaborated that it has not been easy. “To break out in this industry is not child’s play. You have to prayerful, patient and hope that you would scale through.”
