Arguably one of the biggest Nigerian Artistes based in Malaysia, Ketchup has managed to carve a niche for himself in the Malaysian music industry and is now ready to conquer the Nigerian scene. Born Onyido Nkemjika, in the Western city of Lagos, Nigeria to an Igbo business man and his Yoruba wife whom hailed from Anambra and Osun state respectively. Due to the nature of his parents job Ketchup was exposed to migrating from different parts of Nigeria. From a very tender age he exhibited a level of creativity that was rare in children his age so it came as no surprise when he took up dancing during his secondary education in Ijaniki, a Federal Government College on the outskirts of Lagos.

Nkem discovered music while dancing in secondary school and he was so good, the younger students tried emulating him and came to him for lessons in both music and dance. It was then he realized that music and dance were his passion and thus began his love affair with both of them. "My parents too loved music a lot, that's a factor in my music." The name KETCH-UP was given to him by his friends because he was always the life of the party whenever they got together. “Nkem will ‘ketchup the place’” was a regular slang amongst his friends and the name stuck.

Ketchup has recorded songs in Malaysia with top artistes like James Baum, Brittela, Dabenja, Yomi Vuitton, Jowie, Micah and Deuce and has performed at different shows alongside MI, Jesse Jagz, BankyW, WizKid, Sexy Steel, Wande Coal, Flavour, Dr Sid and Terry G. He has also worked with DJs such as DJ Jam Jam , DJ Flavour and Dj Quest. Ketchup is known as a very versatile artiste due to his ability to switch styles when needed. His energy and creativity on stage set him in a different league all together.

Ketchup is currently signed to his Malaysian music label which he's trying to bring to Nigeria. His first two awards came when he won BEST MALE ARTISTE and BEST STAGE PEFORMANCE all in one night at the AEA 2011 IN MALAYSIA and been nominated for MOST PROMISINC ACT TO WATCH at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) in New York.

This humble, funny, energetic and creative performer is focused and would never back down from what he views as a challenge. He has come to set his mark On the entertainment industry as a whole. As we await a new single from him which would be produced by Shizzi as well as other singles coming up. Recently he released his new joint "On The Beat" featuring Pop artiste Rayce. On the 1st week oƒ release via the social media, the song was on trend on Twitter, as well as musical blogs all over Nigeria, and had a lot oƒ downloads.

“I am Gay” – Charlie Boy comes out in the open

Controversial maverick entertainment personality, Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has set another record with his confession that he is gay. By so confessing, he becomes only the second publicly known gay man in Nigeria.This is a record that only Pastor Rowland Macaulay beat him to by being the first Nige-rian to openly come out of the closet and even establish a church that catered to only gays. Those who know CB well however say he’s not someone who likes being a follower. He’s always a leader in everything he does and he’s now ready to take his rightful leadership position in the gay world.

In an interview with a new publication, Danfo Express,  CB declared that he is gay and not ashamed of being gay.

Even as he made other disclosures about himself, he didn’t forget to add that he is the head of the Illuminati in Nigeria, the same Illuminati that people accuse Jay-Z, D’Banj and Don Jazzy of being members and they keep deny-ing membership. While his audacious revelations might seem like a publicity stunt on his part, let’s not forget the saying ‘there’s no smoke with-out fire.’ For CB to say all these things about himself there must be an element of truth in them.

As a judge on Nigerian Idol, not only did he impose himself on the other judges, Yinka Davies and the American, Jeffrey Daniels, he was always going with a human skull to the show and once even went with a huge snake that scared the audience.
